DIRTY PUD.

DIRTY PUD. Oh what a dessert... Had another one today. Best pudding ever. It's a mix of ice cream, chocolate fudge brownies and cookies. So I have come to the conclusion that Sheffield is amazing. It has so many students from all different countries and so many shops! The transport system is amazing and I've fallen in love with this city! I'm quite sad to be leaving the flat as we have the most amount of people therefore banter. I'm not going to miss the dead slaters in my room though... ew.

So today has brought a really lovely day! We started off early with some devotional time in a few small groups which was a bit of the beatitudes and we answered some personal questions on that. We then gathered at room J in the WCC and had some child protection training yay. This was quite frankly one of the most boring experiences of my life. Hated it but oh well, me and legislation don't mix well. So we had some lunch and then free time which was spent in town with some of the girls. It was quite an adventure trying to find Primark and boots but we did find them and get what we needed. On returning to the flat, I repacked my bag and then went to Chapel for some Romania business and some stuff about Networks. It made it more real and I'm very at peace about it now! Again dinner was in Witherspoons where I had my chicken burger.. YUM! After this we went to Varsity amazing, and had some wonderful, glorious DIRTY PUD.

In Chapel this evening we were asked to remember (as if we were the 12 disciples) the night that Judas betrayed Jesus and how we felt at that point. We then broke the bread and had a sip of wine (fruit juice) as an act of showing we were hungry for Jesus and accepting that we need Him as we all have faults! After this we prayed and then shared some stuff about ourselves and just stayed still in God's presence. It was great. I then came back to Skype my parents (Hi mum and dad) then go and pray with some of the lads in the kitchen.

I just want to finish by saying this;

I love this group of people, they're like my family away from home and I could trust them with my life. We;ve taken each other in and welcomed each other in to our lives. It's great, I couldn't imaging a better group of people to spend my year with.

Introductions

Hi, I'm Charlotte and I'm currently on a gap year with Church Army. Basically we're looking to serve people who need it most. As a Christian I like to try and live as Jesus did and be as like Him as I can be. Showing others Jesus' love through actions is something I'll be doing a lot this year especially with the 6 week placement in Romania.

Currently we're in Sheffield, getting to know each other and building trust in each other. Everyone's awesome and mostly Northern Irish then 2 English and 1 American! It's a fabulous group of people who I get on well with.

On the first day we arrived and had lunch together and things split into 2 groups.. boys and girls. Initially that's okay because everyone's more comfortable around their own gender! So we then had a full day of getting to know each other and bond with each other. We went out to dinner to Witherspoons which was lovely and all the girlies sat together. As we went to bed that first night, we sat in the kitchen of our flat (Phillip, Aimee, Amy, Chris and I) and had some flat mate time which was altogether rather lovely. That was 2 days ago and we were more comfortable with each other yesterday. Our Friday brought a very intense devotional session where we invited God to come and speak to us about what ever He wanted to and it was all very heavy. Then Aimee, Amy, Phillip and myself had some free time so went to coffee with Neville and had this amazing thing called dirty pud. Quite frankly the most amazing dessert EVER. After this we came back and had dinner which was curry and as it makes me vomit I just had rice. Dinner was the most fun I've had during my time in Sheffield so far! Chris, Aoife, Phillip and I were sitting at the table and we just had non stop banter! It was amazing! After dinner we wend to Chapel and encouraged each other and talked about placement then watched a movie and hung in our flat.

Today has brought some more team building in the form of rock climbing. I was loving life with the rock climbing and was really proud that I was able to climb a really hard one! We were doing it on proper rocks, never mind any of those walls, PROPER ROCKS! It was really fun and challenging to do but I enjoyed it!

Now we're just sitting in the kitchen all on our laptops doing what ever we want to! :) It's been really good so far and I'm not homesick yet! :D Hopefully it'll continue to be this good :)
